5 Ways to Stay Active in Winter

Getting cabin fever due to this year’s harsh winter? With icy temperatures and snowflakes returning to the forecast, here’s five ways to stay active while we power through the last month of winter.

  1. Go ice skating! The Pettit National Ice Center has indoor ice skating or head downtown to Red Arrow Park for the free outdoor ice rink.

  2. Get your climb on at Adventure Rock. Give your forearms a workout at Milwaukee's premier rock climbing facility on the East Side. New to climbing? Try their Clip’N Go program for newbies.

  3. Head to the beach – not to swim, but to take a brisk walk along the lakefront, while taking in the gorgeous view of a frozen Lake Michigan.

  4. Cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, sledding - all available at the Urban Ecology Center. Hit up one of their three locations for gear rentals, beginner classes, and fun events.

  5. Learn to curl, while getting a great aerobic workout!
